The name Sealy came about In 1881 when Daniel Haynes began making and selling mattresses to his friends and neighbors in the town of the same name in Texas. His product, which became known as 'The Mattress from Sealy', proved to be so popular that in no time, he began to take orders from outside the city. To help satisfy demand, Haynes sold his ideas and knowledge to other manufacturers that would create the product and keep the same name.
