Luxury Duvet Cover
There are numerous types and sizes of duvet covers available but if you are looking for something that is a cut
above the rest, a luxury duvet cover is what you should be checking out. There are a few things that make it better
than a normal cover, not least the look and feel.
There is also the matter of thread count to take into consideration. This indicates how closely knit the threads
are that make up the material. A regular duvet will have a thread count of T150 whereas T180 is considered a better
quality. However, a thread count of T220 or above will be what is used to make a luxury duvet cover.
Once you have found a cover with the relevant thread count, check to see how the design has been put on to the
material. If the pattern has been printed onto the cover, that is a sure sign of lesser quality. Ideally, the
pattern should be woven into the material, which although a much more labor intensive process, provides a more
elegant and luxurious look. A woven pattern will also last longer as well.
When it comes to luxury duvet covers, even the trim used to finish the edges can make a huge difference over
normal covers. A normal duvet cover will more than likely have edges that have been knife edged which is a simple
and quick sewing process. On the other hand, a luxury cover will have edges that have been corded which is the most
attractive finish. This again is an expensive process because the cording is hand sewn which is a more labor
intensive operation.
Another thing that can turn a potentially ordinary duvet into a luxury duvet is what is gets stuffed with. A lot
of duvets are stuffed with synthetic hypo allergenic materials to make them friendly to those people who suffer
from various allergies such as asthma.
However, if you want a truly luxurious duvet cover, one filled with duck feather and down will be your ultimate
in comfort and warmth. Unlike synthetic filling materials, down does not bunch up as it is specially treated to
prevent such problems. Consequently, a down filled duvet will not lose it's warming capabilities half way through
the night. It will also last a lot longer with a typical lifespan of up to thirty years whereas synthetic filled
duvets will only survive about ten years of usage.
Luxury is also a reflection of how something looks and feels to the user. Be sure you like the appearance,
choose carefully the colors and pattern. Then cuddle into bed and enjoy the warmth of your luxury duvet
cover.
